With financial support from the European Commission, Saorsa Global and its Erasmus+ project partner Il Convivio del Pensiero Critico have implemented an important initiative. An intergenerational digital storytelling lab was held in Warsaw from 15-19 September, bringing together people from Poland, Italy, Spain, Iraq, Syria and Azerbaijan.
The goal of the project was to bring older and younger generations closer together through learning digital skills.
Stories are told differently in different eras, but today storytelling has taken on a diverse, digital nature. Gen-Z can teach older generations how to use the latest applications, and older generations can share invaluable life wisdom with younger ones. As a result, they will connect more strongly and society will become more digitally inclusive.
A dynamic, creative and collaborative process took place over 5 days, during which different generations came together to create something new and meaningful. As a result of the trainings, an international group of young people and adults proved that age is just a number and learning has no age limit. The project demonstrated the importance of close, caring connections between different generations. The adults participating in the lab gained confidence in expressing themselves through the use of digital tools, while the young people developed empathy and patience. Within the framework of the task given by trainer Ewa Rogozinska, the participants adopted the role of journalists: they learned to record videos, use various digital tools and listen to each other’s stories.
The project once again showed that despite different ages and nationalities, people have much more in common and the boundaries between them are conditional.
It was a unique opportunity to bring together people from different cultures and generations to share their stories. During the workshops, they used digital tools to create beautiful stories that conveyed their unique experiences and perspectives.
We are glad that through the project we have contributed to overcoming ageism and connecting generations. We thank our partners and project participants for the pleasant days.
