Another successful project of Saorsa Global – “Supporting Inclusive Voices in Adjara”

Saorsa Global cares for the vulnerable groups of our society, including people with disabilities and people with special needs. In order to empower them and their families, since February, our organization was implementing the socio-educational project “Supporting Inclusive Voices in Adjara”. The project is intended for children, adolescents and their families with special needs and disabilities living in Kobuleti and Keda municipalities. The project aims to protect the socio-economic rights of this social group and increase the level of their involvement in the decision-making process.

The following activities were carried out within the framework of the project:

  • Informational educational meetings with target groups; 
  • Educational training program – empowering 30 parents, inclusive education specialists, and teachers through thematic, educational events held online;
  • Introducing effective teaching and learning methods and strategies to inclusive education specialists and teachers;
  • After completing the training, prepare and advocate for budget programs/initiatives.

Within the framework of physical meetings, on April 1, in cooperation with Kobuleti Public School No. 3, an informational meeting about the project was held with parents and specialists at the school's Inclusive Education Center, led by Project Manager Lana Sikharulidze. 

The various training sessions taking place in May were led by Esma Gumberidze, a human rights defender of persons with disabilities and civil activist, and Ana Tavkhelidze, a member of the Supervisory Board of Saorsa Global, a child rights defender, and a lawyer.

“I am really glad that the ice has broken in the region and more and more attention is being paid to people with disabilities and special needs, their parents, relatives, and the training of special education teachers,” shares Ia Kerdzevadze, a parent participating in the project.
