Saorsa Global presented the policy document "Labor Market Challenges and Prospects"„

Nowadays, the issue of youth employment and career support is still relevant in Georgia, which is one of the main directions of Saorsa Global's activities. As a result of working in this direction, on February 1, at a meeting held in Batumi, Saorsa Global presented a policy document developed in collaboration with the ISET Research Institute, as a result of research, which discusses the challenges related to youth employment in Georgia using the example of the Adjara region. 

The report reflects the current situation and prospects in the labor market. In particular, the study revealed that the issues of choosing a profession and finding employment in their profession are relevant for young people. When seeking employment, they often face such problems as meager wages, a shortage of internship programs, the absence of narrow specialties, and many others. The study also showed the need for career centers and career counseling, which will significantly help young people in presenting themselves properly in the labor market.

At the same time, it is noteworthy that the document includes international experience and relevant recommendations developed on its basis. 

The policy document „Labor Market Challenges and Prospects“ was developed within the framework of the USAID Economic Governance Program’s grant activity on strengthening the advocacy capacities of civil society organizations and private sector associations. The document was prepared by Saorsa Global and the Center for Institutional and Capacity Development (ICDC) with the support of the ISET Research Institute.

This was the first roundtable discussion held within the project, and similar meetings will continue in the future. The event was moderated by Lana Sikharulidze, a research specialist at SAORSA. The meeting was attended by representatives of the public sector and educational institutions, as well as members of civil society and students.
