We join the “Bodyright” campaign initiated by the United Nations Population Fund as part of the Orange the World Campaign, which is the world's first “copyright”.
Our bodies, information, and rights must be protected everywhere, whether it's physical space or the digital world.
“Globally, 851.3% of women have witnessed or experienced violence against women online” UNFPA
What forms does gender-based violence committed through technology take?
The most common forms are: Cyberbullying/Cyberstalking: Threatening, humiliating or offensive messages on social media, in comments or chats; Non-consensual sharing of intimate images: Often known as “revenge porn”. This is the sharing of private, intimate photos or videos of a person without their consent; Doxing/Cyberstalking: Obtaining and publicly publishing personal information (address, phone number, workplace) with the aim of threatening or harming, or constant surveillance in digital space; Impersonation: Creating or hacking someone else’s profile in order to spread misinformation or obscene content under their name; Discriminatory content: Mass distribution of sexist, homophobic or transphobic content against a specific group or person.
Each of us is responsible for protecting human rights and creating a space free from violence in both the physical and digital worlds.
